The purpose of the association is to help the industry build and maintain better markets for walnut and lead in efforts to ensure proper management, and sustainability of the timber supply, of all fine hardwoods, especially walnut.

POSITIVE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

We encourage sustained-yield, multiple-use forest management on all federal, state, and privately owned woodlands.
We support governmental efforts to insure implementation of sustainable forest management practices on all tropical and temperate forests, and we will refer landowner questions about timber management to the proper forestry agencies when given the opportunity.
We seek a sensible balance between the preservation and utilization of the forest, which will result in no net loss of forest land, full utilization of available timber resources, a good environment for plants and animals including humans, and long term jobs in the communities where they live.

Where Black Walnut Can Grow
Suitable for USDA hardiness zones 4 through 8. The natural range of black walnut in the north is from Massachusetts west to the 100th meridian (about mid-way across South Dakota, Nebraska and the other plains states). In the South it grows naturally from central Texas to Florida's panhandle.

We Welcome Your Inquiries
If you wish to purchase lumber of other products, especially walnut, we encourage you to contact our members direct or call or fax the association office. Most of the timber we purchase is grown on privately owned forests. We urge property owners to continue to practice good forest management.
